many times this blog showed the opposition at the different kinds of mafia.
In this week, at the cannes festival, a new movie will be played "gomorra", a movie insipered by a book written by Roberto Saviano. the book is the real story abuot the napolitan mafia (camorra) and the writter uses name and surname of the bosses, tells all the criminals shitty things they did and do, a real trip inside the camorra's empire and now of course he lives with body guards around him!
the book is transleted in many languages...look for Gomorra written by Roberto Saviano

I'll vote!!!
Italians are called to vote a new Parliament the next 13/14 of april, a new contest with many different parties.
compared with the past elections there are many new points, in fact in the 2006 the citizens could choice among 2 big coalition Prodi-Berlusconi, now many parties decided to go alone: one big party on the middle-right(PDL-Berlusconi), one party inspired by catholic values, one party who would represent the real nationalist ideas (naturally on the right). even on the left the situation is not united. the biggest party (PD) decided to go alone, it means not alliance with little parties positioned on the middle (which removed the trust in prodi) and not alliance with the left side. actually PD could be the surprise of this election, also if the pool bet on berlusconi, because pd has new leader who could appear new but is not actually he was president of him party until at 2001, after he was elected as mayor of rome doing a good work, but he cannot considered the face of Italian politic. PD and PDL programmes are really close and doesn t really give a solution to remove this deep economic cries. l cannot vote pdl (l hate berlusconi) and l cannot vote PD and him leader, veltroni, because he is not clear! he get famous for his sentence "but also" ...."we must cancel the precarious job but also make free the hands of the owner of the factories"
"we must give rights to the gay but also respect the vatican"
In politic you have to be diplomatic but you have to say what you want!
I want remove the precarious job; l want change the energy policies using more renewable resources; l want rights for homosexuals; l want change the foreigners policies and support the cooperation for development; I don t want the bridge of messina, I want before a real railway structure in sicily; I want destroy the mafia; I want a faster justice and be sure that the criminals pay them fee even with requalification targets.....IO VOTO LA SINISTRA ARCOBALENO

An "old bridge" fucks the god fathers!!!!
It's the biggest mafia haul since the days of the "Pizza Connection". Striking the bosses from Palermo and New York, the Inzerillo 'family' and the Gambino 'family' these 90 arrests represent a simultaneous attack on 'Cosa Nostrà on both sides of the Atlantic. An attack on an organization that was becoming once again a force on the world stage of international trafficking.
Last night the heirs of the historical Sicilian and American 'Dons' have been arrested. Thirty of them were captured in the districts of Palermo at Passo di Rigano, Boccadifalco and Cruillas, they were captured in the villages of Torretta and Carini. The others were taken away in Cheery Hill Brooklyn. It's an operation which the FBI and Italian police codenamed "Old Bridge"
This 'haul' is still only the beginning of a vast anti crime initiative put into action by authorities in Italy and the USA, the first of a series of assaults against the "Cosa Nostra" 'families' in New York.
It's just two years since investigators started to track down the American Godfathers and allies of the Inzerillo, Mannino, Di Maggio and Gambino families. They followed them day after day, listened to their conversations with microphones and filmed their movements. They discovered their companies and their business arrangements. Above all, they uncovered a pact between Sicilians and Americans after more than two decades of mafia domination by the Corleonesi family. Indeed it was a strategy of rebuilding of Cosa Nostra harking back to the 'old' days. This is how the criminal bands were seeking to create new opportunities and new markets after the era of Toto Riina. And this is how the 'escapees' - or mafia runaways from the wars between bands of the eighties - wished to reconquer territory. They had returned to their old districts in Palermo. And they were ready to take back everything.
The names that have slipped into the hands of Italian and F. B. I. police investigators are big ones; custody warrants were signed by the Palermo Prosecutors Giuseppe Pignatone, Maurizio di Lucia, Domenico Gozo, Roberta Buzzolani, Michele Prestipino, Nino Di Matteo and Guido Lo Forte. More arrest warrants were ordered by the District Prosecutor of New York.
The name at the top of the list is Francesco Paolo Augusto Calì, better known as 'Frank' or 'Franky Boy'. He is considered to be the American 'ambassador' of Cosa Nostra to Sicily with the task of tidying up relations with the families of Palermo. Right back from the beginning of 2003 many Sicilian mafia bosses have flown from Italy to New York to meet him, to do business, and to keep Franky Boy up to date on Sicilian affairs.
For more than ten years Franky Boy has been a 'wise guy', or man of honour, of the Gambino 'family'.
The FBI has two informers - Frank Fappiano and Michael Di Leonardo - who have revealed to the American police all of Frank Cali's activities inside the Gambino organization of America.
"Frank is our friend and he is everything over there" Gianni Nicchi confided to his district boss Antonio Rotolo. Nicchi is one of the Sicilian 'men of honour' who went back and forth between Palermo and the U. S. to traffic narcotics. His reference to 'and everything over therè is a clear admission that it was Frank who commanded in New York.
If "over there" Cosa Nostra's US ambassador has been arrested, in Palermo Giovanni Inzerillo has also wound up in the investigation. He is the second born of Totuccio, one of the great Sicilian mafia bosses before the rise of the Corleonesi. Giovanni Inzerillo is a construction entrepreneur as was, officially, his father. He is 36 years-old, and according to investigators he 'debutted' in Cosa Nostra in a summit held on 11th August 2003 at the restaurant 'Al Vecchio Mulino" (the old windmill) in Torretta, a small village about twenty kilometers from Palermo on the provincial road that takes you to Trapani.
On that day, at the 'Old Windmill', fifteen or so 'Mafiosì came to the meeting. Giovanni's cousin, Giuseppe Inzerillo was there, along with his uncles Giovanni Angelo Mannino and Calogero Mannino. They met to discuss their grand return to Cosa Nostra in Palermo. A few months later Giovanni Inzerillo was given the task of accompanying the old boss Filippo Casamento on a business trip first to Toronto and then to New York. The journey was to meet Canadian 'men of honour' of Italian origin such as Michele Modica and Michele Marrese.
Filippo Casamento is another mafia boss involved in last night's blitz. Ex-lieutenant in the Boccadifalco 'family' (before the Corleonesi took power) he was an organizer of narcotics trafficking in the "Pizza Connection". He is one of the main figures involved in the return of the Inzerillo to Sicily. It was he who 'guaranteed' for the heirs of those who were once the masters of Passo di Rignano.
The investigation into Inzerillo and Gambino hasn't explained in detail yet what has happened in the mafia of Sicily and New Jersey in the last few months. What is certain is that Inzerillo's 'plan' to 'reconquer' Palermo has failed. The historical bosses of the Sicilo-American mafia connection have been stopped in their tracks just as they were reforming. In fact they themselves had had some intuition that the project wasn't going to go very far.
It was a hidden surveillance microphone that revealed their fears.
On the 30th August 2000 Giovanni Inzerillo and his cousin Giuseppe went to visit their uncle Francesco in the district prison of Turin. They greeted each other and began by talking of their 'return' to Palermo, which the papers had already been writing about, and manifesting all their trepidation. Every word was taped. Francesco Inzerillo disclosed his alarm to his nephews thus: "Here the only thing to do is to get out and that's it ..... if you do nothing you have to pay.. And if you do do something you have to pay ten times over. You've got to get out of Europe, not just Italy. You've got to get out of Europe because you just can't stay here anymore, there's just no future. You're constantly under control, in chains and padlocks, one's got to get out to South America... all you need is to be indicted under article 416 bis and automatically all your possessions are confiscated. There's nothing worse than getting all your assets seized".

l m worried!!!!
yesterday prodi's government collapsed. the reasons could be easy to explain (but the framework reason are deep), in fact happened that the minister of justice's (mastella) wife, who is politician in Campania(region of italy, the main city there is naples) was accused to have managed the employment in costumer way. he said that is an act against him made by judicial power and that in Italy every politician do the things which his wife did (he is also accused by another judician, by the way),adding at the end that, if the government won t show solidarity at him, he will leave the government. Of course was not possible because in a "DEMOCRACY" to have solidariety you should before finish the process and be considered innocent, at least to conserve the separation of powers.
this case could be take to do some consideration.
1. mastealla is a leader of a party which had at the last election 1,5% of vote, how could be possible to menage a government if someone with 1,5% can decide to keep in life or not the executive power?
actually the problem about it is that when berlusconi was premier, he knew that he didn t have possibility to win against prodi, that's why he changed electoral law to avoid stability to the next government....it s easy and clear I think.
2. mastella in his comments blamed the judicial power, he is minister of justice!
3. mastella put in crisis the government for personal reason.
the mastella case is just a point of iceberg, because he is right when he said that every politician do the same, but CAN NOT be a justification.
For my foreigner friends. in Italy after the 1994 we had the transition from the first republic to the second. the first collapsed because the judicial power tried to put the end at a domination of the parties in every situation, to have a work, to have a bed in the hospital and to have any kind of normal service, the citizen was obliges to call and ask a "pleasure" at a politician. For people was really good to don t be slave of some fucking politician. the score was that the main parties involved in this situation disappeared, but the survived politician tried to always at the power, without really care about the color of the party, and above without brake the way to have vote. Of course nothing has really changed because
Parliament is full of mastella who are recycled from the first republic and in love with a kind to do politic which look just at the benefits. the salary of the politician are the most expensive in europe, and they have a lot of exclusive that I avoid to say.
as for the previous posts, l don t if I have been clear, but explaining in english technical things is not easy and add that in topic like this the passion take the windward

condannato ma contento --- condemned but happy
amen don cuffaro!
Five years of reclusion for the president of region of sicily Cuffaro, who is really happy to have avoided the dangerous "article nr 7", that is the penalty for who works for "Cosa nostra"(MAFIA) business.
but is confirmed the accusation that he helped some mafioso.
Cuffaro smiles, cry of happines, does the cross sign, and says that he will continue to be the president of the region. Actually to be mafioso and help some mafioso, in giuridical words is really different above all for the penalty.
But what about the confirmed accusation? Is not important? maybe not or maybe is better don t talk about it and receive the compliment from Berlusconi and Cesa who, in "intrigue" with thelevision and party with cocaine and prostitute, really know how the menage the illegality. Well done don cuffaro, excellent comunicative strategy!
please don t be indignanted if italian society don t trust in istitutions, actually they are occupated by people who are happy to have a penalty of 5 years!
amen don cuffaro
I was thinking to put a cuffaro picture, but I think is better to glorify these two men, Falcone and Borsellino, judges killed by the dirty mafia hands and symbols of the war against mafia

consolidation of democracies
the consolidations of democracies it depends by 2 component: legitimation and anchorage
with legitimation we mean positive behaviors and attitudes at democracy rules and structures, the population is sure that there isn t a regime better than the democracy regime.
the sense of anchorage is a bit more complicated, entails the existence of some anchors which guarantied the link among the population and an "exclusive legitimation", because actually it s not really obvious that all people want and feel the democracy the best regime...for many reasons. we have 4 anchors, good parties organization when the contest is highly ideologized; costumer policies; corporative policies; parties as gatekeeper.
all these anchors could have also a negative impact when the legitimation is strong and is/becomes strong. think for example at the costumers policies in italy when the legitimation was not inclusive but the parties were able to menage all the economic sector and give any kind of benefits. at the beginning was good to link the population at the institutional structure which represent the democratic regime, but when the legitimation became inclusive people start to be against this kind of policies and the parties which made fall down in 1990-1995. (there are others many causes which caused the collapse of the italian political/parties system in that years)
lt s so naturally think that to consolidate the democracy, a country need of a mix of legitimation and anchorage, but if the legitimation is inclusive and strong, the anchorage have to be , and usually are, weak.
but how it was the consolidation in greece, portugal and italy? let's see
In Italy and Greece the parties were good organized in a contest highly ideologizated and the costumers policies were diffused in greece like in Italy. Portugal had as well these 2 condition but also the born, re-born of corporative institution. as we already said the consolidation is given by a mix of legitimation and anchorage and after have looked which anchorage these countries used and the grade of utilization we can have 4 different process of . consolidation
consolidation trough the state characterized by an high inclusive legitimation, good organization parties
consolidation trough elitè high inclusive legitimation, not strong parties, the economic elitè menage the work of the state
consolidation trough parties low inclusive legitimation, but strong parties which cane be able to menage all the affairs in the state and give any kind of benefits
maintenance low inclusive legitimation, absence of structure able to be in touch with society, the consolidation in this case is difficult to have.
Portugal: dimension of control includes: developed parties (also if less that italians and greeks), parties in touch with civil society, high inclusive legitimation, integration of communist party in a democratic contest. we have all the instruments to consider the portugal consolidation, a consolidation trough the state
Italy: low inclusive legitimation caused by the strong ideological contest among communist party ( the biggest in west europe), considered anti-system party*, and democratic-christian party.
the same ideological contest brought the party to have a great organization in the society and try to take the power in every affairs to have the possibility to give benefits to the citizens and exchange with the vote. So utilization of developed parties organization, costumer policies, occupation by the parties of the total society affairs. a real consolidation trough parties.
Greece: the parties organization was high organized like the costumer policies, but in opposition with italian situation, the communist party was so much weaker than the italian one. while the wing party was already democratic, that s why the legitimation was more inclusive than in Italy. researcher say that is a consolidation trough the state but I think that it quite close to the border with the consolidation trough parties.
I hope you understood what I wrote, at least gigi and lee:) if not ask me.
with legitimation we mean positive behaviors and attitudes at democracy rules and structures, the population is sure that there isn t a regime better than the democracy regime.
the sense of anchorage is a bit more complicated, entails the existence of some anchors which guarantied the link among the population and an "exclusive legitimation", because actually it s not really obvious that all people want and feel the democracy the best regime...for many reasons. we have 4 anchors, good parties organization when the contest is highly ideologized; costumer policies; corporative policies; parties as gatekeeper.
all these anchors could have also a negative impact when the legitimation is strong and is/becomes strong. think for example at the costumers policies in italy when the legitimation was not inclusive but the parties were able to menage all the economic sector and give any kind of benefits. at the beginning was good to link the population at the institutional structure which represent the democratic regime, but when the legitimation became inclusive people start to be against this kind of policies and the parties which made fall down in 1990-1995.
Portugal: dimension of control includes: developed parties (also if less that italians and greeks), parties in touch with civil society, high inclusive legitimation, integration of communist party in a democratic contest. we have all the instruments to consider the portugal consolidation, a consolidation trough the state
Italy: low inclusive legitimation caused by the strong ideological contest among communist party ( the biggest in west europe), considered anti-system party*, and democratic-christian party.
the same ideological contest brought the party to have a great organization in the society and try to take the power in every affairs to have the possibility to give benefits to the citizens and exchange with the vote. breaches post-communist
some studies tell that in many est-europe countries, before communism was possible to find a breach of class (hungary and "ex"cecoslovacchia) and in others not (romania, poland). it was because in the first countries: the level of industrialization and urbanization was high, or better, at the same level of west europe; the alphabetization was quite quite high as well, actually alphabetization was higher in cecoslovacchia and hungary than pourtugal, greece and italy. so there were structural conditions which permit to a breach (cleavage in french, I guess) of class to exist. in the second group of countries the absence of this conditions avoided this breach to emerge and instead of it other breaches came out: nationalist, countryside/bourgeoisie, religious.
after the communism, empiric studies affirm that, nevertheless years and years of communism, the old breaches has been freezing in these countries. Naturally, like for west country, the end of ideologies transformed the political contest, not anymore ideologies fighting with looked at the breach of class, but a contest on economic-socials issues. actually in czech republic and hungary we have this kind of competition, like in the west of europe. In romania for example the political contest is signed by other breaches even now.
but what about estonia? I would like try to look what the situation in estonia and all your advice and consideration are welcome. after 8 months in estonia l saw that the political contest is not signed by economical-social issues, but by breach of ethnic. the absence of breach of class before communism and above all the different composition of "estonian" state after the communism put at the centre of the political life the ethnic issues and (above all for new generation) nationalist/cosmopolitan. ethnic issue because the big russian minority is one of the most issue present in every political debates, but I look with interest at the breach of the nationalist/cosmopolitan because l saw that for the new generation the conflict native/russian is less important than for them parents, while is taking importance the discussion about the relation with the world outside estonia. many nationalist (fascist) young in one side and cosmopolitan in the other.
in this topic we should consider which grade of impact had the 30th april 2007 when estonian government decided to move the monument of red army soldier, making russian community angry. this decision induced them at riots of ethnic nature.
by the way I think that is still early for the end of the ethnich breach

human resistance
yesterday I was going home but before I wanted pass at the bar where I practically brought up, many men were there drinking beer, listening revolutionary songs and talking about politics an philosophy...street's philosophy. I must add that all those people were a bit drunks, but cleavers and with some family problem, or better, if you live in italy and you will get divorced your life could be not dignities life anymore(above all if you are man).
l heard that with "loneliness you can discover yourself", well I m not really agree, maybe "staying alone you can discover yourself", the loneliness is not an ill, but sure an uncomfortable situation caused because you fell alone, maybe he didn t take care about the weight of the word.
at 2 o clock one more friend come in the bar, a man said "welcome to the centre of human resistance".....that sentence said from this guy is still in my mind because I read behind this simple welcome to the centre of human resistance many things.
souls desolated who recognize the real situation of not-integrated people anymore but that still believe in a better future. you know that l really like stay in touch with popular people in popular place and yesterday l understood one more time the reason! the simple souls are the richest!
human resistance!
